Why this went supernova isn't hard to figure out - with actual offensive and defensive strategies, they brought in a new level of realism. This was the ultimate step up in football video games for a long time, so gamers really proclaimed this one the best football game out there, year after year. Today, there's even a new incarnation of the game, and with that is a renewed reverence for it. While worthy of praise, it still trails in the distance from Xbox Madden 10. With the great strides in gaming, football video games have reached a level worthy of the fans. So, yeah, no point in calling out the old football games. No need to keep harping on it.
